And they brought Urijah from Egypt and brought him to Jehoiakim the king, who killed him with the sword and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people.” (Jeremiah 26:23 NKJV)
Being a prophet of God was a hard life. Many of the true prophets were killed, jailed or forced to flee from their people.
The prophet Urijah had fled to “safety” but the king sent people to kidnap him from another nation! The king killed Urijah with the sword and that could have been a caution to other prophets.
To add insult to injury Urijah was not buried with honor but was “cast ”into the graves of the common people.” Urijah was dishonored in life and in death.
Jesus would receive much the same treatment as did most of those who have followed Jesus through the years!
