“Then the LORD said, “Is it right for you to be angry?”” (Jonah 4:4 NKJV)

God does not respond to Jonah’s, shall we say, childish (not childlike) behavior but with a question. God has the annoying habit of asking us a question when we are angry!

September 25

““Therefore now, O LORD, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live!”” (Jonah 4:3 NKJV)

Don’t look down on Jonah because anyone who serves God goes through the poor me’s.

September 24

“So he prayed to the LORD, and said, “Ah, LORD, was not this what I said when I was still in my country? Therefore I fled previously to Tarshish; for I know that You are a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm.” (Jonah 4:2 NKJV)

Jonah fled to Tarshish, the very place Paul would come from. Jonah fled sharing God’s message with gentiles while Paul would share the Good News of Jesus Christ with gentiles.

September 23

“But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he became angry.” (Jonah 4:1 NKJV)

Jonah is such an amazing prophet who is brutally honest about his unwillingness to forgive. The dialog between the prophet and God makes one wonder who wrote this book.

September 22

“Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.” (Jonah 3:10 NKJV)

The people of Nineveh did not just confess or say they were sorry but “God saw their works” to show their real repentance.

September 21

““Who is like You, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, Fearful in praises, doing wonders?” (Exodus 15:11 NKJV)

      We only begin to worship God when we run out of words for God is beyond our words!

September 20

“You blew with Your wind, The sea covered them; They sank like lead in the mighty waters.” (Exodus 15:10 NKJV)

      God blew His breath into us and we received life. Breath comes from the same word as Holy Spirit. With the breath of the glorious God safety or destruction are possible.
