 A Child’s tale

Taste and see the goodness of God

Instead we taste mixed blessings of sod

A serpent’s tale told hidden truth

And the gates of hell are unloosed

Our tastes contaminated by our tears

As our only hope becomes our fears

Hiding from each other and God

Waiting in fear our return to the sod

Pain and despair become our lot

Our only legacy our burial plot

Age and aging take their toll

As grasping ages forward roll

First made God’s Word do twist

First born to God raise a fist

Murder moves from heart to hand

And blood stains the weeping land

An endless cry of eternal despair

What to me my brother’s care?

Divorced from others breeding strife

Divorced of meaning from all life

The line of murders has begun

As darkness exists under the sun

Despair cries from broken heart

Wounded by death’s horrid dart

Brother’s kill brother’s to begin

But borders cannot contain our sin

Different, alike it doesn’t matter

Murders master brings disaster

Tears cannot wash away the blood

Though they match flood for flood

Blood stains cover our very soul

Is there no hope to make us whole?

Another Child born into life’s fray

Came to wash sin’s stain away

Tears no good against sin’s flood

Child covers with His own blood

The blood of a Heart holy and pure

Becomes mankind’s hoped for cure

The victim of murder this Child

Conquers murders master so wild

Lifted above sin’s dark stain

Lifted hope to mankind again

Through a Child forgiveness will reign

This Child’s blood removes the stain

Murder’s master revenge so wild

Now attacks the helpless Child

Children’s blood through fingers flow

So our land is filled with dark woe

Turn to the Child who removes the stain

And you will be whole once again

“‘Then the priest shall burn the memorial portion: part of its beaten grain and part of its oil, with all the frankincense, as an offering made by fire to the LORD.” (Leviticus 2:16 NKJV)

Burn the memorial

Beat the grain

Offering to God

By Fire to the Lord

What has God offered to you today?

What offering does God desire from you?

I am a broken vessel, a cracked pot

Dying from my pride and sin

Healed by God from death

Both physical and spiritual

Yet for over 30 years God used me

Served 9 congregations in Tennessee

Ministered to thousands of souls

Sharing eternal hopes and grace

With my addiction to pornography

Ministered to many with addictions

Those in congregation and community

Visiting those in prison offering hope

I saw miraculous healing many times

Miracles I have seen and experienced

Redemption bringing eternal change

Nope becoming the breath of life

Looking back I am in wonder and awe

Rejoicing God let me see His eternal work

Pain, suffering and death becoming healing

The eternal Good News living and redeeming

Thank you God for using someone like me

Frankincense, also known as olibanum, is an aromatic resin used in incense and perfumesIt is obtained from trees of the genus Boswellia in the family BurseraceaeThe tree typically grows in the dry, mountainous regions of India, Africa, and the Middle East. Frankincense has a woody, spicy smell and can be inhaled, absorbed through the skin, or taken as a supplementIt is commonly used as a fragrance in soaps, lotions, and perfumes.

Frankincense essential oil can be used for wound care:

  • Its antiseptic properties keep wounds clean.

  • Dilute it with carrier oil before applying to the affected area to reduce inflammation and minimize scarring.

  • It acts as a natural coagulant, stimulating blood clotting and helping to close wounds.

  • The anti-inflammatory properties reduce swelling and redness around wounds, promoting healing.

  • Some practitioners recommend ingesting a small amount daily to aid faster recovery.

What the price of my soul?

What the price of my soul

More than the price of life

The price to again be whole

Overcoming all my strife

What the price for who I am

More than I can ever count

What the price that I shall be

And that I can again become

What God wants me to be

The price makes be dumb

What the price for who I am

More than I can ever count

The price stands before me

No, I cannot look away

One so lovely on a tree

Suffering my price to pay

What the price for who I am

More than I can ever count

Blood flowing from brokenness

Pain flowing from His eyes

Falling down I must confess

My sin even as He dies

What the price for who I am

More than I can ever count

A Darkness hides the sight

The darkness fleeing my heart

As He makes me so very right

Of His suffering I am a part

What the price for who I am

More than I can ever count

Earth trembles neath my feet

As God stabilizes my soul

My fear of God to ever meet

Down from me does roll

What the price for who I am

More than I can ever count

What price to pay for my soul

God paid His only Son

Can I give God the control

Of the life which He won

“‘And what is left of the grain offering shall be Aaron’s and his sons’. It is most holy of the offerings to the LORD made by fire.” (Leviticus 2:10 NKJV)

What has God offered to you today?

What offering does God desire from you?

 I do not hear God

I used to

But I do not

It has been seven years

The silence is deafening

The silence is excruciating

The silence is deadly

Then I thought

Is God not speaking or am I not hearing

Which could it be

Could it be both

I don't know

All I do know is

The silence is deadly

 Revealing

Looking through a dusty glass

A shiny luster more than brass

A glow that invades my sight

My vision seared by this light

I want to focus so I may see

Through the glass who may be

My eyes are forced to look away

Pushed back though I long to stay

I try again and the pain is intense

Without wanting to I must wince

The tears are not just from pain

From being withheld by sins stain

A smile is all that I can see

“You will soon be able to see”

The voice soothes my troubled soul

Though it sounds like a thunders roll

The light is felt more than seen

My heart and soul are left serene

I will wait for that blessed day

When before Him I will stay

 January 25, 2025

PAIN

I know pain my old friend

For pain is my old friend

We have lived life endlessly

Lived life so painfully

There is no day without pain

My own eternal strain

Not always the same place

Not always seen on my face

Some days worse than others

Under pains darkest covers

Sleep evades and rest it flees

Steals away my times of ease

Rest cannot hold it at bay

For pain has come to stay

Does this pain belong to me?

Why, O Lord, cannot I flee?

Is this my own fleshly thorn?

To be this lifetime borne?

Is God the author of this pain?

Is it because of my own stain?

Questions many answers few

When will this pain be through?

Is God too small or pain too large?

Does pain my strength enlarge?

Will answers decrease my pain?

Will they decrease my stain?

Is it forgiveness that I need?

Or His laws should I heed?

Or is pain a part of life?

Lived in such varied strife?

If not our own than others

Jailed in pain like brothers

Some pain is our very own

Some by others is strewn

Like seeds of death do bloom

Growing into our own doom

Found and lost all the same

Caught in this painful game

Paying the price for mans sin

Until we can begin again

Jesus is our hope and healing

For our pains terrible dealing

One day the end comes at last

When life begins darkness past

January 22, 2025

Could I have stayed in the Garden of Gethsemane

Could I face the shredding of my soul in decision

Could I not leave after God called me to stay and die

Could I wait to face betrayal, humiliation and death

Could I...

Pearls of life

Twelve gates of pearl form heavens doors

Where could such a pearl on earth be made

What is the creation of threes times fours

How could these wondrous gate be laid

Pearls are God’s gift from tribulation

The trouble and trials throughout our life

A wondrous pearl larger than ever know

Formed by God’s grace in our strife

The gate to heaven is not found in the strife

But in how the pearl grows through grace

When we allow troubles to call us to God

Through the pearl we can see God’s face

Trembling I look at the giant pornography

My knees grow weak looking at its great size

My feet want to run but my heart says stay

Sweaty hands feel for the stones and sling

When I defeat you your people will serve me”

The price of this battle is like a weight on me

Looking up at the giant I know I need help

My body, soul and spirit the giant weakened

I look down at my feet in my shame and fear

Will I look up and cry for heavens help

Will I die like a dog with only a yelp

What will I do will I look up for help

White as Snow

Snow covers the hardened ground

Kissing the ear with a gentle sound

Each flake an amazing gift of God

Covering a stained earthly sod

Landscape changes in our view

All looks cleansed and looks new

Mud, grass, trees all lost to sight

Covered by this blanket of white

Coldness chills our hearts blood

Chilled through by this white flood

Icicles descending from every tree

An army of daggers surrounding me

Flakes of snow dancing in the sky

Their finale on the ground they lie

Compounded by their growing number

Drifting and lifting in their slumber

My heart is like the cold hard ground

Sin and darkness in it abound

God sent His Son’s cleaning flood

And covers me in Jesus’ blood

So white covers my hard heart

Cracking and breaking it apart

Whiteness covers my heart’s sod

A gift of love from my God

Pilgrim let it roll away

Harder to make it stay

Always wants to return

Causes our heart to burn

Cut the ties that hold it in

Cut the ties holding our sin

Oh God, let it roll away

Please let it leave today

No guarantee it won’t return

Even though I sin do spurn

Please God help me today

Please God, let it roll away
